Things to know about Pairing wines with Summer Squash:

  • Baked squash has a natural sweetness in flavor which is enhanced by sweet spices and wine. It pairs with any wine depending on the spices you choose.
  • Prepared savory style with herbs, grains or sautéed vegetables, it complements red wines.

  • Prepared with sweet or hot spices like curry, cinnamon or ginger with grains or sautéed vegetables or fruits, it complements white wines.
  • When baking the stuffed squash, add ¼” of the wine to be served with the dish into the bottom of the baking dish. Cover the pan with foil and bake. The steam will add a hint of the wine flavor to the dish.
