Split artichokes in half and boil in salted water until tender – about 25 minutes.
Remove choke from artichokes and dip cut side down in lemon juice, wine, olive oil, salt and pepper mixture.
Place cut side up on an oven proof pan.
Set under broiler for 10 minutes or until edges are toasted brown.
Turn cut side down on pan, brush with lemon juice mixture, and return to broiler for 5 minutes.
Serve cut side up with dipping sauce of choice.
