Reflecting on the Vineyard Lifestyle

Sitting on the patio of our motel room at the Spyglass Inn in Pismo, California, I look beyond the blooming Bougainvillea to the pacific horizon.   Hummingbirds flutter around me, birds of all types enjoy the gardens.   Whales play in the water.

The morning is so quiet; nature can be so still. The only noises are the sounds of water splashing, birds chirping, leaves blowing in the wind. The temperature is cool and comfortable – like I would imagine it would be to walk with the Lord in the cool of the morning in the Garden of Eden.

It reminds me of home (sans the whales). The fountain in Messina Hof lake splashes, deer run, flowers bloom, and the mornings are quiet and cool.   Paul and I love to sit outside in the cool of the morning and evening and toast the day.

The vineyard lifestyle is what this is all about – slowing down, taking time and appreciating it. Imagine sitting in your backyard looking at your vineyard, sipping a glass of wine, listening to the birds and footsteps of deer in the woods. This is why the Vineyard District was created – that we might share this lifestyle.
