Tomatoes are special in so many ways. They are
– a staple fruit/veggie in our diets suitable for our area.
– easy to process for storage as marinara sauce, tomato juice, dried tomatoes, tomato soup, etc. All can be frozen for use later.
– easy to grow & a great way to get young children involved. Our grandchildren Sophia and Paul A help Paul & I plant tomatoes each spring. Every time they come to visit they grab a basket and go hunting for ripe tomatoes (like an Easter Egg hunt). Sophia is even growing her own tomato plant in the backyard.
Enjoy the fruits of your labor with what you harvest in the garden and in the hearts of the children and grandchildren.
